Blue Lions split DH with Goshen

GOSHEN — The Washington Blue Lion varsity baseball team split a doubleheader at Goshen Saturday, April 28.

Goshen won the first game, 2-1.

The Blue Lions bounced back to win the second game, 3-1.

In the first game, Washington scored in the second inning, while Goshen scored one in the fifth and one in the bottom of the seventh.

Kenny Arboleda started for Washington and pitched five innings. He allowed two hits and one earned run. He struck out two and walked one.

Austin Joseph pitched one inning with one strikeout.

Eli Ruth allowed one hit and one run, taking the loss.

Connor was the winning pitcher for Goshen. He pitched a complete game with 10 hits, one earned run, seven strikeouts and one walk.

Washington got on the board in the top of the second when Eli Lynch singled and stole second.

Lynch scored on a single by Ryan Schwartz.

In the second game Saturday, the Blue Lions scored three runs in the top of the third and made them hold up for a 3-1 victory.

Austin Joseph started and pitched a complete game for the Blue Lions for the win. He allowed four hits and one earned run with three strikeouts and two walks.

An unnamed pitcher started for Goshen and took the loss. He did not record an out. He allowed one hit and two earned runs with no strikeouts and one walk.

Harp pitched seven innings for Goshen with four hits and one unearned run. He struck out four and walked one.

In the top of the first, George Reno led off with a single.

Eli Ruth followed with a walk. The runners both advanced on a wild pitch.

With one out, Kenny Arboleda reached on an error that allowed Reno to score.

Eli Lynch hit a single to score Ruth.

With two outs, Bailey Roberts singled home Arboleda to make it 3-0.

Goshen scored one in the sixth after the first two batters were retired.

A walk, a wild pitch and a single plated Goshen’s run.

Washington (now 13-4) is home against Xenia for Senior Night Wednesday at 5 p.m.
