Lady Lions run-rule Whiteoak

The Washington Lady Lions varsity softball team hosted the Whiteoak Wildcats for a non-league game Saturday afternoon, April 14.

Washington won the game, 13-1 in five innings.

Brooklyn Devenport started and was the winning pitcher for Washington. She pitched five innings with two hits and one unearned run. She walked three and struck out four.

Green started and took the loss for Whiteoak. She worked one inning with three hits and six earned runs. She did not strike out a batter and walked six.

Gross pitched the next three innings for the Wildcats. She allowed seven runs (four earned) on seven hits. She struck out two and walked one.

Washington sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring six runs.

The Lady Lions scored three in the second, one in the third and three more in the fourth.

With a 12-run lead, the game was ended when Whiteoak did not score in the top of the fifth.

Washington (4-5 overall, 3-2 in the FAC) had their game at home against Hillsboro postponed Monday due to the cold, blustery, flurry-filled weather.

Washington is scheduled to host Chillicothe Wednesday. It will be senior recognition day for Washington’s two seniors, Maddison Osborn and Annie Semler. They will be recognized prior to the game that starts at 5 p.m.
