Lady Panthers lose to Jackson

JACKSON — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers varsity softball team visited Frontier Athletic Conference leaders Jackson for the first time Wednesday, April 11.

Jackson won the game, 11-1 in five innings.

Jackson scored one in the first and two in the second.

Miami Trace scored what proved to be its only run of the game in the top of the third.

Maddie Mossbarger reached on an error.

Gracie Greene was sent in as a pinch-runner and stole second.

Hailey Gilpen followed with a single, scoring Greene to make it a 3-1 game.

Jackson scored one in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Miami Trace had two hits in the game, both by Gilpen.

Jackson had 17 hits, including multiple hit games by Humphrey (three), Ridgeway (four, including a home run), Banks (two, including a home run), Patterson (two) and Bako (three, including a home run).

“Jackson’s pitcher, Humphrey, did a great job of keeping us off-balance all night,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said. “We as a team must (work) on reducing errors and improving our hitting.

“We need to establish positive leadership in moving forward this season,” Henry said.

Miami Trace will play at Washington Friday at 5 p.m.

Miami Trace is 1-3 in the FAC. Jackson is 4-0 in the conference.
