New soccer program in Fayette County

There is a new youth soccer program in Fayette County.

The Big Cats Soccer Club gives Fayette County’s more motivated soccer players the opportunity to travel outside of the county to face different competition.

There are three teams; U12 boys coached by Aaron Teter, U11 girls and U9 boys, both coached by Josh Thoroman.

Thoroman will assist Teter with the U12 boys. Zach Collett, Brandan Ellars, Ashley Lovett, and Sean Sweeney are the assistant coaches for the girls U11 team.

Matt Esker, Sean Sweeney, and Jarrod Thoroman are the assistant coaches for the boys U9 team.

On Friday, March 23, BCSC’s U11 girls defeated Club X United (from Xenia) by a score of 1-0. Third grader Laynie Swonger scored the goal 15 minutes into the second half.

BCSC had 22 shots while limiting Club X United to only six shots.

BCSC’s defensive effort was seriously impressive in recording the shutout.

Jordyn Gray and Calee Ellars shared goal-keeping responsibilities for BCSC with Gray playing the first half and Ellars the second half. Belle DeBruin, Lyndyn Gibbs, Karleigh Cooper, Gabbi Thoroman, and Hailey Webster made up the defense.

Kamika Bennett, Lauren Farrens, Nora Morrison, and Emma Hagler provided nonstop hustle in the midfield and on offense.
