The Washington Blue Lion boys soccer team hosted Chillicothe for an SCOL match Tuesday, Sept. 22.

When the teams played back on Aug. 27, the Cavaliers beat the Blue Lions 9-0.

Tuesday, Washington lost a much more competitive game, 3-0.

Chillicothe held a 2-0 half time lead.

The Cavaliers scored the final goal of the match with just three minutes remaining.

“We had a couple of chances to score,” Washington head coach Aaron Teter said. “Trent Brown had a shot and Blaise Tayese had four shots.

“They were nothing that challenged their keeper too much,” Teter said. “We were focused on not letting the same thing happen that happened the first time we played them. It was team defense for the back 10 men.

“I thought we defended really well,” Teter said. “It was much more competitive tonight. We still had a couple of breakdowns and they took advantage. But, they’re the class of the league, so, to play them in a tight game is a win for us.”

On Saturday, Sept. 19, Washington traveled to London for a non-league match.

London won that encounter, 2-0.

The Blue Lions (3-6-1 overall, 3-4-1 SCOL) are at Leesburg Fairfield Thursday at 6 p.m.
