Lady Panthers ‘16-‘17 Final Four team honored

Miami Trace has been honoring past basketball teams and their accomplishments during this, the final season of the Panther Pit gymnasium.

On Friday, Jan. 26, the Lady Panthers 2016-17 team that went to the State Final Four was honored.

During the ‘16-‘17 season, Miami Trace compiled a record of 24-5, winning an SCOL title, as well as Sectional, District and Regional crowns.

The team was led by seniors Hanna Reisinger, Tori Riley and Samantha Ritenour.

The Lady Panthers began the season 14-0, including winning another McDonald’s Holiday Tournament title.

After a four-game losing streak, the Lady Panthers went into the postseason with a record of 18-4.

In the Sectional tournament, Miami Trace beat Washington, 53-34 and Unioto, 57-35.

In the District tournament, the Lady Panthers beat Sheridan, 46-33 and Chillicothe, 37-32.

In the Zanesville Regional tournament, Miami Trace first defeated New Philadelphia, 33-28.

In the Regional finals, again in front of a packed house at Zanesville High School, Miami Trace defeated Dresden Tri-Valley, 30-28.

In the State semifinals, Miami Trace took an 8-point halftime lead against Hathaway Brown.

In the second half, Hathaway Brown outscored Miami Trace, 33-17 for a 48-40 victory.

Archbishop Kettering Alter defeated Hathaway Brown in the Division II championship game, 58-41.

The team was comprised of: Olivia Wolffe, Cassidy Lovett, Becca Ratliff, Hanna Reisinger, Shaylee McDonald, Morgan Miller, Aubrey McCoy, Victoria Fliehman, Tanner Bryant, Aubrey Schwartz, Tori Evans, Grace Bapst, Samantha Ritenour, Lena Steele and Tori Riley and coached by head coach Ben Ackley and assistants Randy Welsh and Kasey Bamberger.
