CIRCLEVILLE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers, the No. 10-ranked team in the State this week in Division II, visited Circleville High School for a non-conference game against the Lady Tigers Wednesday evening, Jan. 24.

Miami Trace won the game, 53-31.

Senior Tanner Bryant was the game’s leading scorer for the Lady Panthers with 14 points.

Junior Cassidy Lovett scored 12 and junior Becca Ratliff had three treys for nine points.

Kenzie McConnell led Circleville with eight points.

Meghan Davis and Shayna Hoop both tallied seven points for the Lady Tigers.

Miami Trace improves to 14-2 on the season.

Miami Trace led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter and 19-12 at the half.

The Lady Panthers broke the game open with a 21-4 third quarter to go in front, 40-16.

Sadly for Miami Trace, senior stand-out Victoria Fliehman was out of the line-up after suffering an injury in Saturday’s game against Ottawa-Glandorf.

“I’m very proud of our kids,” Miami Trace head coach Ben Ackley said. “It was a very emotional game, being the first game without Vic on the floor. It’s been a rough few days for our group. It’s just so tough to replace someone the calibre of Vic, both physically and mentally. It’s a pretty big loss for us.”

Fliehman had just surpassed the 1,000-point scoring mark for her career against Hillsboro on Jan. 10.

“The kids responded really well,” Ackley said. “We played hard. Everyone who dressed played. I think we played 13 kids and they all contributed.

“Becca Ratliff and Tori Evans had big games,” Ackley said. “I thought Olivia Wolffe and Cassidy Lovett both played really well offensively, as well.

“Cassidy and Shay McDonald’s pressure out front and our guards as a whole, really was the difference in the game for us,” Ackley said. “They created a lot of easy buckets and gave us some confidence early. We had a really good third quarter and it was great to see the team rally around one another.”

Miami Trace is at Eastern Brown tonight and at Chillicothe Saturday.
