Lady Lion volleyball upends Chillicothe

The Washington Lady Blue Lion volleyball team followed up their non-conference road victory at Madison Plains High School Monday with possibly their biggest win of the season to date against Frontier Athletic Conference-leading Chillicothe at home Tuesday.

In fact, Washington not only won the varsity and the j-v matches against the Lady Cavs, but posted wins in the seventh and eighth grade matches, as well.

The varsity rolled to a 3-0 win over Chillicothe.

Scores of the sets were: 25-18, 25-21 and 25-20.

Statistically for Washington, in attacks, Faith Kobel was 15 of 16 with 11 kills.

Hannah Haithcock was 21 of 23 with eight kills and Rayana Burns was 13 of 13 with six kills.

For passing, Delaney Greer had 11 digs, Haithcock had 10 digs and Tabby Woods had nine digs.

In serving, Haithcock was 13 of 14 with three aces, Maddie Jenkins was 13 of 15 with three aces and Greer was 15 of 17 with one ace.

In setting, Halli Wall was 75 of 76 with 25 assists.

Washington brings its overall record to 7-7. The Lady Lions are now 4-3 in the FAC.

Washington will play at Jackson Thursday and will host a tri-match with Clinton-Massie and Paint Valley Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
