COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football schedules are now nearly complete through the 2021 football season as the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday released conference schedules for the 2020 and 2021 campaigns. One non-conference game for each season – Sept. 19 in 2020 and Sept. 25 in 2021 – still needs to be scheduled for Ohio State.
The 2020 Big Ten schedule for Ohio State includes games against Big Ten West Division teams Iowa (in Columbus), Nebraska (Columbus) and Illinois (Champaign), while the 2021 schedule includes crossover games with west schools Minnesota (Minneapolis), Nebraska (Lincoln) and Purdue (Columbus).
A few notes about the 2020 and 2021 schedules:
§ When Ohio State and Nebraska meet in 2021, it will mark the sixth consecutive season for the two teams to play, a streak that started with the game last season in Columbus;
§ Ohio State will open the 2021 season with a Big Ten game on the road at Minnesota;
§ The game against Purdue in 2021 will mark just the second game with Purdue in eight years and the Boilermakers first visit to Ohio Stadium in nine years. The teams will meet next year in West Lafayette; the first game between the two teams in five years (2013);
§ Ohio State will make its first trip to Minneapolis to play the Golden Gophers since 2014 when the teams kick off the season in 2021; and
§ The 2020 game against Iowa at Ohio Stadium will be only the second visit to Columbus for the Hawkeyes in seven years, or since the 2013 season.
The Buckeyes, 1-1 on the season and ranked No. 8 and No. 9 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, respectively, host Army for the first time this week at 4:35 p.m. in Ohio Stadium. FOX Sports will be televising.
