CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace boys soccer team visted Unioto Thursday for a non-conference match against the Sherman Tanks.

Unioto won the match, 1-0.

Unioto scored the only goal of the game with 7:21 remaining in the first half.

“Their offensive player collided with our defensive player at the mouth of the goal and the ball rolled into the goal,” Miami Trace head coach Josh Thoroman said.

“Unioto outshot us 22-18 but only put eight on goal” stated assistant coach Sean Sweeney.

Justin Shoemaker recorded seven saves for the Panthers.

This was Miami Trace’s first loss to Unioto in four years.

“This was their seventh game and third win in a row,” Thoroman said. “This Unioto team is coming together. On the other hand, we’ve had much higher hopes for our team. This was a non-league game but it affects Sectional tournament seeding. Seeding plays a big factor in winning the sectional and how far a team can go.”

Miami Trace (2-2-0 overall, 1-1-0 in the Frontier Athletic Conference, is at London Saturday at 11 a.m. for another non-league game.
