MT tennis shuts out Tigers

CIRCLEVILLE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers tennis team visited Circleville Wednesday, Sept. 6 and returned to Fayette County with a 5-0 victory.

It was the first shut out win for the Lady Panthers since 2014 against East Clinton.

At first singles, Cassie VanDyke defeated Allyson Withers, 6-4, 6-2.

At second singles, Anita Pursell won a hard-fought three-set match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

At third singles, Bayley Thompson defeated Madison Graul, 6-1, 6-1.

At first doubles, Cameron Bucher and Haiven Pepper beat Kara Hinton and Emma Shaw, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Jackie Wisecup and Beth Hogsett won their second doubles match, 6-1, 6-1 (opponents names were not available).

In j-v play, Miami Trace’s Kyleigh Slone played Madalyn Fausnaugh. Slone lost an 8-game pro-set, 6-7. The set was ended before someone won the eighth game, due to darkness.

Miami Trace will play at Hillsboro Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
