Lady Lions shuts out Tigers

For the second time in one week, the Washington Lady Blue Lions played the Circleville Lady Tigers tennis team in a non-league match.

This time, the match was held at the tennis courts at Gardner Park on an unseasonably mild, overcast afternoon.

The result was the same as before as the Lady Lions roared to a 5-0 victory.

At first singles, Megan Downing defeated Melanie Winter, 6-0, 6-1.

At second singles, Jen Richards topped Allyson Withers, 6-2, 6-1.

Third singles saw Sydnie Hall defeat Madison Graul, 6-2, 6-1.

At first doubles, Bethany Wilt and Brooklyn Foose beat Taylor Huffer and Elizabeth Timmons, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

At second doubles, Brynne Frederick and Payton Maddux defeated Emma Shaw and Kara Hinton, 6-2, 6-1.

In j-v doubles, Bre Taylor and Mei Kobayashi lost to Circleville in an eight-game pro-set, 8-7.

In a j-v singles match, Chyna Cupp lost to Circleville, 8-3.

After hosting Miami Trace Tuesday, Washington will have another home match, this one of the non-league variety, against Greeneview Thursday.

Matches start at 4:30 p.m.
