Panther golf beats McClain by 3 strokes

After decades as rivals in the South Central Ohio League, then, as close non-league rivals, then as members of the recently defunct SCOL and now as members of the new Frontier Athletic Conference, Miami Trace and McClain met on the golf course Tuesday, Aug. 15.

The Panthers won the match by three strokes, 186 to 189.

Miami Trace’s Tyler Eggleton and McClain’s Trevor Newkirk were co-medalists, each with a score of 41.

Also for Miami Trace, Cameron Carter shot a 45, Drew Batson, 49; Hayden Walters, 51; Heath Cockerill, 55 and Trent Crawford, 75.

Other scores for McClain: Coby Penwell, 46; Trenton Newkirk, 48; Zane Mustard, 54 and Caleb Pointer, 66.

Miami Trace is back on the course Wednesday, Aug. 23 at the Greens against former SCOL opponent Clinton-Massie.
