Lady Lions notch 1st season win

HILLSBORO — The Washington Lady Blue Lion softball team picked up its first win of the 2017 season Wednesday, April 5.

Washington won at Hillsboro in SCOL play, 9-4.

Meghan Tucker was the winning pitcher for the Lady Lions.

She pitched six innings (the game only went six innings) allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits. She walked three and struck out three.

R. Moberly took the loss for Hillsboro. She worked six innings, giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits. She walked seven and struck out seven.

Annie Semler was the leading hitter for the Lady Lions. She went 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Maddy Jenkins went 2 for 3 with a double, four RBI and one run scored.

It was 2-2 after one inning of play.

Washington scored one in the third and three runs in the fourth to go in front, 6-2.

Hillsboro scored one run in the fourth, with the Lady Lions responding with three runs in the fifth.

Hillsboro answered with one run in the bottom of the fifth.

Washington (now 1-4 overall, 1-3 in the SCOL) has a game scheduled at Wilmington Friday at 5 p.m.
