RIO GRANDE — Two local student-athletes have qualified to this Saturday’s Regional cross country tournament in Pickerington.
Washington High School junior, Maddy Garrison, placed fourth out of 132 runners, in a time of 19:39.00 at the District tournament at Rio Grande Saturday, Oct. 22.
Miami Trace High School senior, Blake Pittser, placed 16th out of 167 runners, in a time of 17:21.68.
The Division II boys Regional race is Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and the Division II girls Regional race is set for 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
Emma Hoellrich, a Fairfield Union, senior, won the District title in a time of 18:58.18.
Junior Luke Brown of Sheridan, won the boys District race with a time of 16:25.63.
Sheridan won the District boys title with a team total of 76 placement points.
The Lady Lions placed 13th out of 18 teams with a total of 307 placement points.
Miami Trace did not have enough girl runners to post a team score.
The Miami Trace boys placed 11th out of 23 teams with a placement point total of 279.
Washington was 20th with 511 placement points.
Unioto was second with 92 points; Hillsboro was 18th with 482 points and McClain was 23rd with 674 points.
On the girls’ side, Unioto was fourth with 112 points, Chillicothe was sixth with 181 points; Jackson was 16th with 442 points and Hillsboro was 18th with 465 points.
Also for Washington, Rayana Burns was 62nd in 23:38.54; Catelyn Colter was 64th in 23:41.36; Megan Rohrer was 80th in 24:23:31; Ally Funari was 97th in 26:26.11; Alexa Harris was 112th in 27:31.11 and Mallory Whitworth was 118th in 30:13.56.
For Miami Trace, Abby Arledge was 114th in 27:21.66 and Kylie Pettitt was 125th in 29:29.11.
For the Miami Trace boys, Simon DeBruin was 38th in 18:11.78; Nick Foody was 57th in 18:36.89; Henry DeBruin placed 69th in 18:56.84; Cole Enochs was 99th in 19:48.10; Wyatt Cory was 107th in 20:02.40 and Jake Atwood was 124th in 20:50.83.
Kameron Morris was the first runner for Washington to cross the finish line. He placed 56th in 18:35.19.
Also for Washington: Josh Trimmer was 103rd in 19:56.06; Connor Lane was 111th in 20:09.73; Chris Conger was 120th in 20:32.69; Brandon Underwood was 121st in 20:41.56; Collin George was 127th in 20:57.28 and Will Baughn was 130th in 21:01.74.
