Fear God, but fear no evil

Psalm 91:5, “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.”

Everyone is afraid at times. Fear has its good sides and its bad sides. For example, it is good to have a reverent fear for God. But, it is not so good to have the spirit of fear, or another word would be timidity.

II Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Romans 8:31, “If God be for us, who can be against us?”

Some people have phobias such as fear of water, high places and being in tight quarters. We could dare say most people have some type of phobia. Most of the things we fear never happen and then again, some unexpected sickness or loss may cause us to fear. I am glad we have a God who protects us and tells us not to be afraid.

Isaiah 12:2, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”

Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

If we fear God, we have nothing else to fear!
