We ought to do it for Jesus Christ’s sake

Matthew 10:39, “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

I am often asked the question: “How can I know if I am serving the Lord for the right reason, or whether I have the right motive?” I tell them that there are a lot of good reasons to serve the Lord. But one of the true motives ought to be for Christ’s sake.

A mother will suffer much for her child’s sake. God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven us. We also should be committed for Christ’s sake.

In Ephesians 4:32, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake, hath forgiven you.” We are to forgive as God has forgiven for Christ’s sake. We find in II Corinthians 4:5, “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake”.

Something we wouldn’t do for anyone else we ought to do for Christ’s sake!
