Don’t worry, Jesus has overcome

When I was in school, I would wait until the last minute, and then cram for a test. I had learned to listen in class and take notes, but to commit the things I was hearing to memory took an intense download of that information at the last minute.

This would always be the catalyst for a stressful few days. As I have gotten older I see that these times of intense downloads can still facilitate a stressful situation. Tasks that you dread doing can haunt you for days before you bite the bullet and just get it done. The truth is that all of that stress can be avoided just by not putting it off. Even if the thing that needs to be done seems insurmountable; just eat that elephant one bite at a time.

If I had studied every week instead of waiting until the sixth week, I could have been prepared without all of that cramming and worrying. Stress can even make you sick and will almost always make you irritable. When we are under extreme pressure, we are not fun to be around.

Jesus came to bring God’s message for mankind from heaven to earth. He relayed messages that were sent from the very power that created us. Jesus told us in Matthew chapter 6 that we should not worry about our food, clothing, body, or even our life. He said that we can not add even an inch to our height by worrying and that God is watching over us. He even sees a bird as it hops across the ground.

He goes on to say in Matthew 6: 31-34; “Therefore do not worry , saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or “What shall we wear?’ “For after all of these things the heathen seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.”

Jesus said in John 16 : 33. “These things I have spoken to you , that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Don’t worry and be stressed; Jesus has overcome!

These are the life changing issues we look into at the Gathering Place every Wednesday evening at 7 and Sunday morning at 9:30 and 10:30. Come and join in.
