Getting Ahead: Going the wrong direction

0

For over 30 years I traveled around the United States by car, bus and airplanes. I must say there have been times that I was going the wrong way in every one of them. (Thankfully, there was only a time or two many years ago in a plane.)

You are going the wrong way and something or someone tells you; “This is not right.” I remember once in Canada in the early morning I was supposed to be going east and I noticed the shadow from the bus was on the road directly in front of me. I quickly surmised that the sun was not coming up from the west that day, so I was headed the wrong direction. I stopped, got out the map, found the way I should have been going and turned the bus around.

We all go the wrong way in our lives at times. It happens to the best of us. Life is not about the wrong turn now and then, it is about getting back on course. In every mode of travel there is some type of map that shows you the right way to go. When I look at the map, I do what it says and I find my way to my destination.

Did you know that life does have a map to get you where you need to go? Even if you know it exists, do you use it? Why not?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington High School Gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 West Court Street.
