Grace United Methodist Church would like to welcome Pastor Matthew Brookes, wife Laura, Emily and Jacob as its new pastoral family.

They come to Grace UMC from Bainbridge United Methodist Church where they served for nine years.

Matt and Laura were both raised in northeast Ohio but most of their ministry has taken place in southern Ohio.

Matt is a graduate of Malone University and Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. He met his wife Laura while at Malone and they just celebrated their 30th anniversary this year.

Pastor Matt serves as chair of the District Committee on Ordained Ministry for the Shawnee Valley District of the UMC; he is involved with the Shawnee Valley Outdoor Enthusiasts which is a group that shares a love for the outdoors and meet monthly to enjoy nature together. He also serves as president of Camp Sychar in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

The previous churches that he and his family have served are: Port William and Paintersville UMC’s; Westwood UMC; Boston Heights Evangelical Friends Church; Friendship and Old Town UMC’s; and Bainbridge UMC.

Pastor Matt is grateful to be appointed to Washington Court House Grace United Methodist Church and excited about what God has planned for all of us. He is thankful to have a part in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Fayette County.

The Brookes family will be residing at the Circle Avenue parsonage and look forward to serving the congregation and becoming involved in the community.
