Proverbs 1:5, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning: and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.”
The book of Proverbs is a book of instruction and warnings to help us increase learning in all areas of life. Some of the things God wants us to know are wisdom, instruction, perception, understanding, justice, judgment, equality, subtlety, knowledge, and discretion.
Remember, a wise man will hear. Listen to Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” Just in those three short verses, we see a way to be successful and blessed of God. God wants us to be wise, not as the world counts wisdom, but as God gives it. James 1:5. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
The word proverbs means a short proven truth or more than meets the eye. We would do well to read, learn and teach the book of Proverbs to our children.
Remember, a wise man will increase learning!
