Fear of the Lord

0

Proverbs 1:7, “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

The fear of the Lord, we are told, is a source of inner strength. The person who lives this life of faith and devotion is able to meet the test of time and to meet the shocks of life.

To fear God is to have nothing else to fear.

The Bible tells us that man’s hearts would be failing them for fear of those things that are coming on the earth. Today, heart attacks are one of the leading killers in our land.

There are three words that describe fear. They are reverence, timidity, and phobia, but only reverence to God is a healthy fear.

God in His word has given us 365 fear-nots, one for every day of the year. Solomon, one of the wisest men to have ever lived says in Ecclesiastes 12:13, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
