Getting Ahead: ‘Time well spent’

0

It seems that I am on the move 24/7. I do a lot of different things and sometimes I can’t get everything done that I have planned for my day. The truth is however, that when the day is over and I reflect on it, there is almost always time that I have wasted. I find that I have spent time on things that are not productive.

This morning I spent a couple of hours thinking on what this article would be. I didn’t have any inspiration until I took time to see a man that had come into my office to pick up a check. Instead of having him pick it up in the front office, I asked him into my office and we just sat there and visited for awhile. When he got up to leave, I knew that taking time for someone was “time well spent.”

As he was leaving my office I realized that a few minutes with him had inspired me more than a couple of hours that I had taken this morning to try and inspire myself. Relationship and conversation is the key to a life fulfilled. It is easy to get so busy with our agenda that we do not have time for others. It can get to the point that the only people we spend time with are those people that can advance our personal agenda. The things that we think have to get done may not be as important as we think they are. Don’t get me wrong, there are things that must be done in a timely manner, but does everything we want to do fall in that category?

How do we get to the point that we have no time to spend with family and friends? What is it that happens when we take time for others? Can we achieve our dreams and still have time for someone who just walks inn? Why is it so important to build lasting relationships?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets at 240 Courthouse Parkway for Bible Study at 9:30 and in the lobby at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry.
