NHUMW enjoy Christmas celebration

The Christmas Celebration of the New Holland United Methodist Women was held Wednesday evening in the home of Ann Thompson. As guests arrived they enjoyed a social hour and visiting around the punch bowl. Josetta Thompson gave the invocation before a delicious Roast Pork Dinner was enjoyed.

The committee preparing the meal was: Jodi Kirkpatrick, Kay Oughterson, Jane Ann Garrison, Ivy Pursell, Kathy Stinson, Doris Rowland and Ann Thompson.

“Happy Birthday,” was sung to Esther McClarren and Jean Stokes in honor of their birthdays. Ann Thompson welcomed all to the meeting and read “The language of Advent is very much the “Look Up,” sort. Secretary’s report was given by Betsy McFadden. Pat Taylor gave the treasurer’s report. All were thanked for the many pairs of socks and gloves that were brought for the less fortunate.

There will be no meetings in January or February. If you would like to host a meeting in 2016, please contact Ann Thompson by the last of January.

All were reminded that all items for the children at Red Bird Mission are due at the church Sunday, Dec. 6. 2015. Pat Taylor gave a presentation on the world prayer calendar and mission focus of the day. Response moment on (listen) talked about mission and children, Jesus said “ whoever takes a humble place becoming like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom Heaven.” Scripture Matthew 18: 3-4.

Kay Oughterson presented an outstanding program on “The M & M’S of Christmas.” She said Christmas can and will become so much more for us if we truly understand the M & M’s of Christmas, that is, the miracle, the meaning and the message of Christmas. She closed with the M & M’s of Christmas help us realize that God is in control and will fill our Christmas with peace. God’s presence will fill our Christmas with hope and God’s cares will fill our Christmas with love. She gave everyone present a wonderful bag filled with M & M’s. Josetta Thompson closed the evening with prayer.
