Getting Ahead: ‘Change the name’

0

Merry Christmas is a thing that I have said all of my life, but it seems that there are people that want to change it to Happy Holidays or Merry Xmas. What is the motive behind those who do not want us to say Merry Christmas? These are the same very small minority of people who try to stop the display of nativity scenes or any other thing that points to the birth of Christ through the Christmas season.

These same people get off work on Dec. 25, go shopping on black Friday, and have a time of celebration. What are they celebrating? If Christ is taken out of Christmas, Christmas does not exist. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ Jesus!! Many years ago our federal government of these United States even declared Dec. 25 as the national holiday of Christmas; not Xmas or a random holiday, but Christmas. This was very appropriate because our country was founded on Christian principles.

The description of Christmas was first given to people that followed the teachings of Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. We are a nation founded on those teachings. The very laws of this country are written from the truth that is given us in the scriptures in the Holy Bible. Again I ask; “What is the motive behind those who want Christ out of Christmas?”

Why do the overwhelming majority of United States citizens allow a very small minority of misguided people to dictate what we do and do not do? What is coming next? How depraved can people become without the presence of God in their life? What force drives people to ruin their lives and attempt to ruin the lives of others under the cover of freedom, fairness and tolerance? Do they really think that changing the name or stopping the construction of a nativity scene on the public square will change the truth?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington Junior High School Library for Bible Study at 9:30 and in the gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 W. Court St. in Washington Court House.
