Getting Ahead: ‘Finding our way’

0

When we travel we use a GPS to find our way to our destination when we are traveling in a car. It is a wonderful instrument that almost every traveler now uses. We just type in the address of our destination and the GPS guides us right to the location by displaying a moving map and in the case of the one we use, talking to us telling us of every turn that we need to make.

We have a male voice programmed in our GPS and we call him “Jack.” The female voice is sweeter to listen to but I have been singing and traveling with two females for so many years that I just needed another guy in the car even if he is a GPS.

I have found that we will always know where we are going, as we follow Jacks instructions, but sometimes we do not know where we are. There are times that we feel like Jack is taking us in the wrong direction. When that happens we go against his commands and almost always get off track. Jack never gets upset if we don’t listen to him; he just recalculates and gives us the exact route to get us back on course.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was something like a GPS that would guide us through life? How great would it be if there is a power that could not only guide us, but recalculate our route to get us back on course when we make a wrong turn? Is there a way that we could find such a thing?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington High School Gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 West Court St. in Washington C.H.
