WHS to celebrate homecoming

Washington High School will celebrate homecoming 2016 in traditional fashion with the annual parade and pep rally this week.

A parade and pep rally will kick off the festivities on Wednesday. The parade will leave from Gardner Park at approximately 6:30 p.m. and will take Main Street to East Street and cross over to Ogle, where it will turn right on Yeoman, travel onto McElwain and then right on Willard to the high school.

The parade is expected to conclude at the high school around 7 p.m. followed by a pep rally in the gymnasium.

The public is invited to attend all activities. The 2016 homecoming court will be introduced at the pep rally. During, cheers and music will be provided by the cheerleading squad and the Blue Lion Marching Band.

Friday night promises to be exciting as the Blue Lion Football team takes on East Clinton. The homecoming queen and king will be crowned during the pre-game festivities.

For the homecoming dance, Washington students and their guests will enjoy the “Treasures of the Deep” dance on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the gymnasium.
