Fayette County Memorial Hospital’s (FCMH) Walk with a Doc (WWAD) program has been so successful, they are stepping it up in September to offer WWAD every Saturday, starting Sept. 10 and will continue through Oct. 8.

After Oct. 8, the normal WWAD schedule will resume: Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. The walks will take place around the reservoir at the Fayette County YMCA. In case of inclement weather the location will be moved to the YMCA indoor track.

Mark calendars to walk with a provider; Sept. 10 is Dr. Marta Gryniuk, Sept. 17 is Joel Rice, CNP, Sept. 24 is Dr. Robert Pickering, Oct. 1 is Dr. Emily Johnson and Rita Storts, CNP, and Oct. 8 is Dr. Gryniuk.

This program is free and open to all ages. Each walk will begin with a short discussion on a health topic and the provider will also answer any questions. For more information please call (740) 333-2710. FCMH said they hope residents will grab a friend and join them.

WWAD’s mission is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country.
