A 28-year-old mother who allegedly packed drugs in her child’s diaper bag is awaiting jury trial on a charge of possession of cocaine.

Audrey Tolle, of Washington C.H., was arrested in a traffic stop on Robinson Road May 12 after authorities conducted a criminal interdiction in Union Township.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a K-9 indicated a positive final response on a maroon Kia Sportage.

It was reported by the officers that Tolle was a rear passenger in the car, along with Benny R. Murphy, 46, and the couple’s juvenile child. Tolle reportedly told officers she had packed the diaper bag for the child.

During a search of that diaper bag, officers reported finding a plastic bag with white residue and another plastic bag that contained “a very large number” of marijuana blunt roaches.

Murphy reportedly jumped out of the car when the traffic stop was initiated, but was told by an officer to get back inside of the car.

Officers allegedly had a conversation with Murphy, and he said he was on his way to town and denied being the owner of a handgun found on the rear passenger floorboard in the car.

Children’s services was called and the child was taken into custody by its grandfather, as were Tolle’s two other children, according to the sheriff’s office, while Tolle and Murphy were transported to the Fayette County Jail.

Tolle’s trial is pending Sept. 29.

Murphy was indicted June 3 on a charge of having weapons under disability. He is pending trial Oct. 4.
