Abby Shrout recently joined the Record-Herald team as its newest reporter.

Abby was born in Washington Court House but moved to Greenfield around the age of 3. She attended Greenfield Elementary School and Buckskin Elementary School, Greenfield Middle School, and is a graduate of McClain High School, class of 2017.

Her mother is an English teacher at Greenfield Middle School, so she has developed a love for literature and writing that goes back to a very young age.

Prior to working with the Record-Herald, Abby was and is still currently a server at Roosters in Washington Court House. She started there in July of 2018 and in the early months of 2021, she was promoted to bartender and still bar-tends on Sundays as well.

She has a lot of hobbies outside of working that include reading books and anything that has to do with art. Also, she does photography on the side and will be the photographer for her second wedding this year in September.

Abby has two Siamese cats, Keke and Cubby, who she loves dearly.

She is very excited to get started and would like to pursue a career in journalism or education.

“We’re thrilled to add Abby to our team,” said Record-Herald Editor Ryan Carter. “Abby has a real passion for writing, learning and meeting new people. We believe she will be a great addition to the staff.”
