Kimberly Lyons-Penwell is the new general manager of the Record-Herald.

Kimberly Lyons-Penwell, a media sales consultant with Civitas Media since January 2012, has been named the general manager of the Washington C.H. Record-Herald. The announcement was made this week by Nick Monico, regional director, Ohio, for Civitas Media, the newspaper’s parent company.

Penwell has several years’ prior experience in sales, marketing and management. She is active with local community organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Health Fair Committee, and the United Way.

Penwell resides in Greenfield and has deep community ties to Fayette County. She replaces former general manager Sherri Sattler, who has joined the sales and marketing team in Davidson, N.C. as director of advertising sales with Civitas Media.

“Kim’s past experience has prepared her for her new position,” said Monico. “Her knowledge of this market and community, as well as her leadership ability, are important skills that will assist in her role as general manager.”

Penwell has an associates’s degree in applied business from Southern State Community College.

“I’m excited to take on this new role and new challenge as general manager of the Record-Herald,” said Penwell. “This is a great community and the Record-Herald is committed to serving the public and partnering with community organizations. Our goal is to provide an even better local product by having all departments – advertising, editorial and circulation – working as a unified team. Our editor Ryan Carter and I are working closely to ensure that our product remains the leading source of news and information in this community. We have also put plans in motion to expand our coverage throughout the county and achieve strong revenue growth.”
