Events planned for Easter weekend

Easter weekend is almost here and, while the weather is expected to be a bit chilly and rainy, there are several events to enjoy.

Saturday, April 16

The Jeffersonville Community Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the 4-H Fun Bunch and the Little Clover Funny Bunch, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jeffersonville Community Baseball Fields.

Heritage Church, 1867 Old U.S. Highway 35 N.W. in Washington C.H., will be holding an Easter Eggstravaganza from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A character meet and greet will begin at 10:30 a.m., and will feature the Easter bunny, Paw Patrol, PJ Masks, princesses, and Mirabel from Encanto.

All that is needed for the Eggstravaganza is a bag for the kids to collects eggs — there will be 17,000 hidden with hunt areas designated by grade and a quiet special needs area. The first 225 kids will be gifted an Easter basket filled with goodies.

There will be a 30-minute kid-friendly Easter presentation along with popcorn and snow cones. Inflatables will be available weather-permitting. Recommended ages for the event are toddlers through sixth graders.

Long John Silver’s, 230 S. Elm St. in Washington C.H., will have the Easter bunny in-store from 12 to 2 p.m. Each child can get a free photo with the Easter bunny and a free egg. While there, get half-off a kids meal with any purchase.

South Side Church of Christ, 921 S. Fayette St. in Washington C.H., will be holding an Easter walk-through event available 1-3 p.m. The walk is outdoors and is for the whole family. During the walk-through event, there will be scenes of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. Candy, snacks, beverages and photo opportunities will be provided.

Tiny Town Childcare and Learning Center, 156 Jefferson St. in Greenfield, will be holding an Easter egg hunt for the children of its community, along with the Easter bunny being available for photos. The event will last from 10 to 11 a.m. and all that is needed is a basket or bag for egg collection.

New Martinsburg Christian Fellowship Church, 47 Zimmerman Road S.W., will be holding an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. and all are invited.

Sunday, April 17

Crossroads, 175 Halliday Way in Washington C.H., will be holding two identical Easter services — one service at 9 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m.

Spirit of Truth church, 713 Robinson Road S.E. in Washington C.H., will be holding an Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m.

Renew Church, 390 E. Temple St. in Washington C.H., will be holding an Easter service starting at 10:30 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt for the children afterwards.

Jeffersonville United Methodist Church, 13 E. High St. in Jeffersonville, will be holding a Sunrise service at 7 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery, followed by breakfast in the church at 8 a.m. and Easter service at 9:30 a.m.

Weather

On Saturday, according to www.weather.com, a high of 59 degrees and a low of 30 degrees is expected along with winds between 10 and 20 miles per hour (mph). During the day, there is a 14% chance for rain while there is a 3% chance for a wintry mix during the night.

Sunday is projected to have a high of 49 degrees and a low of 37 degrees with winds between 5 and 15 mph. There is a 17% chance of rain during the day, and that increases to a 32% chance of rain during the night.
