The Fayette County Family YMCA is bringing a taste of one of the hottest fitness competitions receiving recognition throughout the United States to Fayette County.

In fact, Spartan UltimateTeam Challenge will be a featured show on NBC starting June 13.

Spartan Races consist of competitions ranging from three to over 12 miles and include anywhere from 20 to over 60 obstacles. They also have competitions for kids that are half to one mile in distance, and have an emphasis on teamwork, fun and getting muddy.

The YMCA brings groups of people together each and every day, and to encourage them to make real changes and live healthier lives. The YMCA holds regular Bootcamp and Caveman classes that some participants utilize in order to train for Spartan Races.

Building upon the popularity of these classes and Spartan Races, the Fayette County Family YMCA will be one of three sites in Ohio and hundreds around the world to participate in the Spartan Revolution workout on Sunday, June 26 from 10 – 11 a.m. The one hour workout will be held outside at the YMCA, rain or shine, and will consist of various Spartan exercises that are utilized to prepare competitors for races.

Earlier this year Spartan launched it’s #COMMIT campaign. Now, they are starting a Revolution. A Revolution is something out of the ordinary, something that pushes you to grow and improve. The Spartan Revolution is about more than the individual, it is about motivating a group of people to rise up together and make a real change.

The Spartan Revolution workout is free but those wishing to participate must go to http://www.spartan.com/en/training/workout-tour/revolution-workouts?workout=1822 in order to register. Residents can also find this link on the YMCA website at faycoymca.org under events. A limited number of Spartan rally towels, stickers, and wristbands will be available for those pre-registering. Participants must bring the signed waiver and are encouraged to bring a water bottle and workout towel with them.
