The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office recently alerted citizens that the Fayette County Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and Title Office will be closed to the public through Dec. 26.

The office, located at 105 E. East St. in Washington Court House, is planned to re-open Monday, Dec. 27.

According to Fayette County Clerk of Courts Sandy Wilson, the BMV/ Title office is closed to the public due to “COVID issues with staff and severe shortages.”

“We can still assist dealerships with their title work, and they may drop off work to be processed during normal business hours, and my staff will call them when it’s complete and ready for pickup. Those dealerships that send their work electronically may continue to do so as that part of our operations remains intact,” explained Wilson via email.

There are online services available to residents at www.bmv.ohio.gov/. According to the website, Ohio residents can renew registrations, replace or exchange license plates, view their own driving records, become an organ donor, etc.

“Staff that are able to work are continuing to come in and work across the offices to keep up with workload and cleaning of the facility. This week, we are closed four days because of the COVID issue and were already closed Friday and Saturday for Christmas. We will resume our regular hours on Monday, December 27,” wrote Wilson.
