On Monday, the 36th Induction Ceremony into the Academy of Scholars was held by Washington Court House City Schools (WCHCS).

For the first time, the ceremony was held in Gardner Park. In past years it has been held in the Historic Washington Auditorium, but was moved outside this year due to COVID-19 precautions.

Academy of Scholars is a program for students in grades six through twelve that was established by the WCHCS Board of Education in 1985.

According to information from WCHCS Director of Marketing and Communications Trevor Patton, students in grades six through nine who have achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average based on the year end grades for the current school year, and students in grades ten through twelve who have achieved at least a 4.0 grade point average based on the year end grades for the current school year, are granted membership into the Academy of Scholars.
