Evans receives SAR Eagle Scout award

Miami Trace High School student Riley Evans was named the winner of the Arthur St. Clair Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Arthur M. and Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest during the chapter’s recent monthly meeting.

SAR state society vice president Shawn A. Cox presented Evans a certificate, a medal and an Eagle Scout merit badge in recognition of being selected as the SAR chapter winner.

Contestants were judged on the number of leadership positions held in scouting, the number of merit badges earned, the scouting activities they participated in; plus they were required to write a 500-word patriotic themed essay and submit a four generation ancestor genealogy chart. As the chapter winner, Evans will compete in the SAR’s state society contest.
