Local districts provide kindergarten registration info

With the end of the school year approaching, both local districts are looking toward next year with kindergarten registration for students about to start their education in Fayette County.

The first of these started at Miami Trace Local Schools last week on March 22.

“The registration window will be open from March 22 through April 9 and the registration process can be completed online,” Miami Trace Assistant Superintendent Rob Enochs said via email on Monday. “Please visit our district website for specific directions. Once the registration process is complete, parents and guardians will receive an email with a link to schedule the child’s kindergarten screening which will take place on August 17 and 18.”

This year Miami Trace will use FinalForms (miamitrace-oh.finalforms.com), a brand new way to register online to replace Infosnap. According to Enochs, FinalForms has been reported as more user-friendly from parents who have already completed registration. Additionally, FinalForms allows the completion and signing of all academic forms for students as well as an athletic section where all sports forms may be completed.

“All current parents within the District will receive a confirmation email from FinalForms,” Enochs said. “If you plan to register a new Kindergartner for the 2021-2022 school year please confirm your account. Parents who have current students in grades kindergarten-11th grade may also confirm the account, however, the forms for your students will not be available to update until June 2021. Please refrain from filling them out at this time. We will notify parents of current students when it is time to update forms for the 2021-2022 school year.”

Washington Court House City Schools (WCHCS) is also gearing up for next year and will start with its kindergarten registration on Monday, May 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Cherry Hill Primary School. According to information from WCHCS Director of Marketing and Communication Trevor Patton, registration will not proceed without the child present for a short assessment.

Just as Miami Trace, WCHCS said that, “Students must be 5-years-old by August 1 to register for kindergarten.”

For more information about registering at WCHCS, parents and guardians should call Cherry Hill at (740) 335-3370 during regular school hours.

Additionally for both school districts, certain documentation is required during the registration process. These include the immunization records [if a child needs kindergarten immunizations, please contact Fayette County Public Health at (740) 335-5910], a certified copy of their birth certificate, a verification of address, and WCHCS also notes that proof of custody is also needed if applicable to the situation.
