Ohio Farm Bureau’s Young Agricultural Professionals raised $3,823 for Mid-Ohio Foodbank by selling t-shirts that carried positive messages about Ohio agriculture. Ohio Farm Bureau’s board of trustees voted to add an additional $5,000 to the donation, raising the total to $8,823.

The t-shirts were sold online and during the Young Ag Professionals annual conference in January, which brought more than 700 young farmers and professionals from around Ohio together to network and learn more about many different aspects of Ohio farming and food.

“The committee and I have been overwhelmed by the response to the t-shirt sale each year and are thrilled to be able to raise funds for the important work Mid-Ohio Foodbank does fighting food insecurity,” said Melinda Witten, Ohio Farm Bureau director of leadership programming and Young Ag Professionals coordinator. “We also are very thankful to the Ohio Farm Bureau board of trustees for donating an additional $5,000 to the cause.”

“In our initiatives to acquire more fresh foods, we value our relationships with the local agriculture industry,” said Matt Habash, president and CEO of Mid-Ohio Foodbank, “We appreciate the contributions of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Young Ag Professionals to help us create a hunger-free, healthier and flourishing Ohio.”

Ohio Farm Bureau’s Young Ag Professionals raise money for Mid-Ohio Foodbank as a part of American Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Harvest for All program which aims to provide food to those in need.
