Annual Paddle on Paint Creekfest set for May 15

Greening Greater Greenfield (G3) will present its third annual Paddle on Paint Creekfest Sunday, May 15 at Greenfield’s Felson Park.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Subway Fresh Fit 5K Run/Walk. Registration is available both online or 9 a.m. This year the paddling events will begin with a nine-mile kayak only trip beginning at 11 a.m. Beginning at noon through 5 p.m., the regular three-mile trips will begin employing both kayaks and canoes. Reservations may be made both online or at the event. Online reservations guarantee a launch time and minimal waiting. Costs vary.

Kayak, canoe and livery services will be provided by Waters Edge Livery of Chillicothe. For those who own their own gear livery only service is available.

Once again Paddle on Paint will include the McClain Band Booster’s Duck Race beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 and the first three places will pay off with cash prizes. Tickets may be purchased from any MHS band member or at the beginning of the race.

Land based activities will include, food by the Dairy Nook, the KONA Hawaiian shaved ice wagon, life flight helicopter landing on the ball field, fire trucks and police cruisers, displays by a variety of private and governmental agencies, craft vendors, wood carvers, flopping around in the creek, and sitting under a shade tree catching bluegills and listening to live music.

This is a family-friendly and free event so grab the children and come spend a day in the park by the creek. The entry fee is $25 and will include a t-shirt. Proceeds will go to help G3.
