Health fair a success

The 26th-annual Community Health Fair & Family Fun Day was held Saturday at Grace Community Church with a large crowd turning out for the event.

Despite rainy weather and a slight chill in the air, a large crowd could be seen at the church on Saturday. With plenty to do for the whole family, including face painting, food from Charm-N-Farm 4-H Club, displays throughout the building and more, many residents did not want to miss this event.

“We were more than pleased with the turnout at this year’s 26th annual community health fair and family fun day,” said Cheryl Royster, director of social services at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. “With the weather less than perfect, we appreciate the 70-plus organizations that helped make the day such a success. By the count of our numbers, over 1,50o attended the day. The health fair is put on by a committee that starts meeting and planning in January of each year. We look forward to this community offering on April 29, 2017.”

The health fair had other attractions, including a rock wall and bounce houses, a fire truck to explore and an assortment of health screenings. Numerous businesses also took part in the event with a booth set-up for residents to visit, including the LIFE Pregnancy Center, Signature HealthCARE, Fayette County Memorial Hospital and many more.

The organizers would like to thank their sponsors for helping to put on this event: Above & Beyond 4-H Club, American Legion of Washington Court House, Carriage Court Assisted Living, Charm-N-Farm 4-H Club, Costumes for All Occasions, Family Dental Care, Donatos, Earzlinks, the Elks, Fayette County Health Department, Fayette County Help Me Grow, Fayette County Memorial Hospital, FCMH Therapy Services, Four Seasons Health Care, Good Hope Lions, Gusweiler GM Center and Toyota, HCF Inc. – St. Catherine’s and Court House Manor, Jeff All Arounders 4-H Club, John Deere, Kiwanis, the OSU Extension, the Record-Herald & Shopper’s Guide, Signature HealthCARE, The Willow, WCH Fire Department, WCHO Radio, WVNU Live Remote, YMCA and 9 Rounds.
