A former Walmart employee pleaded guilty Monday to the theft of phones and video games from the local store.

Mark A. Stollings, 21, entered his plea in Fayette County Common Pleas Court and his sentencing date was set for July 18.

Officers from the Washington C.H. Police Department were dispatched to Walmart on Leesburg Avenue on Nov. 12, 2015 in response to a store employee in custody due to a store theft. Stollings was arrested by police that same day after Walmart management reported Stollings had admitted to stealing phones.

On Nov. 8, 2015, management reported Stollings was observed on video removing two cell phones from a locked location and concealing them on the counter under a box. Stollings reportedly later recovered the two cell phones and concealed them in his pants pockets, finished his shift then departed the store.

Store management confronted Stollings for the theft on Nov. 12, 2015, at which point Stollings reportedly confessed to the theft of the phones. During his arrest, police located hidden in his waistband three damaged/altered boxes containing video games. Stollings admitted he had concealed the items and was planning on leaving the store without paying for them, according to reports.

Stollings was removed from the store, advised of trespass and was told not to return. The defendant was taken to the Fayette County Jail for incarceration.

The two cell phones were IPhone 6 models valued at approximately $1,397 and the three video games were valued at $179.64.

Stollings was later indicted for theft on Dec. 11, 2015 by a Fayette County grand jury.
