LIFE Pregnancy Center holds prayer ceremony

The LIFE Pregnancy Center held a prayer ceremony on April 19 to dedicate the property for its future facility, located at Fayette Street and Broadway Street.

Barbara Fox, center director, welcomed the crowd and expressed that the board of directors and staff vow to build (this facility) to leave a legacy of faith, hope and love now and for generations to come. Clergy from area churches prayed for the intentions of the property, the women, men and children who have served at the center, the board and staff, the capital campaign and each program the center offers.

Pat Hays, WVNU radio station owner, acknowledged that this day commemorated the anniversary of the death of Father/Dr. Frank Klamet, who was the center’s first medical director and embodied generosity to others. About 70 people turned out for this event. Following the dedication ceremony, there was a catered reception by Helen Grimm at St. Colman Parish Hall.

The audience was comprised of individuals who prayerfully and/or financially are committed to the construction of a professional facility to assist families with practical pregnancy or parenting support. In addition to the local support, staff from Heartbeat International, a Columbus-based organization which helps to advance the worldwide pregnancy help movement, were present. Also in attendance were representatives from The Catholic Foundation. It was through a $20,000 grant that was awarded by The Catholic Foundation to the LIFE Pregnancy Center that helped secure a down payment on the property.

“A new facility has been a shared vision of many people for several years,” said Fox, “and will be designed to accommodate all the current programs and services, as well as expand new services, specifically the Father’s program.”
