According to reports, the Washington C.H. Police Department responded to the following calls:

July 1

Theft: At 5:13 p.m., Kaylee Hartberger reported that while at Walmart located at 1397 Leesburg Ave., she left her purse in a cart. She departed Walmart when she discovered that her purse was missing and returned to find that the purse had been stolen.

Assault: At 10:02 p.m., officers responded to 423 Second St. in reference to an assault. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that the injuries sustained by the victim enhanced the charge to a felony. David Mongold was arrested and charged with felonious assault.

Theft: At 11:18 p.m., Joshua Winterbotham reported that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a firearm from the vehicle.
