The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recently approved several resolutions authorizing the selling and purchasing of vehicles for county business.

It was moved by commissioner Dan Dean and seconded by commissioner Jack DeWeese to authorize the sale of a 2010 Dodge Charger, which has been deemed as a surplus vehicle. The vehicle will be sold through GovDeals, Inc., as it is no longer in service. The motion was unanimously approved.

Additionally, commissioner DeWeese moved, and seconded by commissioner Dean, that Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth be authorized to purchase three 2016 Dodge Charger Police Specials from Key Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Xenia. Sheriff Stanforth has allowance to accept the bid as defined in the Ohio Revised Code. The motion was unanimously approved.

The final vehicle resolution was moved by Commissioner Dean and seconded by Commissioner DeWeese to proceed with the purchase of a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle will be used by the Probate Juvenile Court and is to be purchased from Doug Marine Motors. The motion was unanimously approved.

Two additional resolutions were approved including an authorization for the Fayette County Sanitary Engineer, Steve Luebbe, to enter into a contract with Burgess & Niple to provide professional services that are necessary to complete a semiannual groundwater and surface water sampling, laboratory analysis, statistical analysis and reporting, generate semiannual activities reports for the corrective measures program, perform necessary verification re-sampling and reporting, and conduct negotiations for the closed Fayette County Landfill No. 3 through 2016.

The other resolution authorized the establishment of the Fayette County Healthier Buckeye Council per the Ohio Revised Code with the board of commissioners serving as staffing agent. Faye Williamson, Department of Job and Family Services Director; Bambi Baughn, Fayette County Community Action Commission Director; Commissioner Dean; Washington Court House City Manager Joe Denen; and City Council Chair Dale Lynch were appointed to the council.
