Made possible by proceeds from its annual scholarship golf outing, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce awarded five college scholarships to area high school seniors recently.

“It’s great when a day of golf with friends and colleagues turns into college scholarships,” said Julie Bolender, president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

Each of the recipients were required to submit an application listing personal and educational accomplishments as well as a brief summation on future plans and aspirations.

“Our board receives blind applications to judge and submits to me their winners. Each year we see more young adults with strong educational backgrounds, work ethic and determination to reach their goals. It is an honor to be a very small part of helping them along the way,” said Bolender.

Ashleigh Donohoe is a graduate of Washington Court House City Schools and is the daughter of Rock Donohoe and Aimee Carmean. Ashleigh will be majoring in Biology-Pre Medicine at Xavier University this fall.

Trevor Minyo is the son of Buck and Debbie Minyo. Trevor graduated from Washington Court House City Schools and will be attending Miami University and majoring in Business Economics.

Christopher Tooill graduated from Fayette Christian School and is the son of Keith and Laura Tooill. He will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Cedarville University.

Aubrey Schwartz is the daughter of Bret and Robin Schwartz. Aubrey graduated from Miami Trace and will be attending Wilmington College in the fall where she will major in Agriculture and Education.

Cole Enochs is the son of Rob and Jennifer Enochs. He is a graduate of Miami Trace and will be attending the University of Cincinnati and majoring in Civil Engineering.

The annual Chamber Scholarship Golf Outing to benefit 2021 graduating seniors will be held Friday, Sept. 4 at Buckeye Hills Country Club. If you are interested in participating or sponsoring, please contact the Chamber of Commerce office at 335-0761.
