Made possible by proceeds from its annual scholarship golf outing, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce awarded five college scholarships to area high school seniors recently.
“It’s great when a day of golf with friends and colleagues turns into college scholarships,” said Julie Bolender, president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.
Each of the recipients were required to submit an application listing personal and educational accomplishments as well as a brief summation on future plans and aspirations.
“Our board receives blind applications to judge and submits to me their winners. Each year we see more young adults with strong educational backgrounds, work ethic and determination to reach their goals. It is an honor to be a very small part of helping them along the way,” said Bolender.
