Game On Arcade in downtown Washington Court House will reopen its doors for business this Friday after nearly three months closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, the Record-Herald caught up with the two-year co-owner of Game On Arcade, Chris Bateson, while he was busy preparing the business for its reopening on Friday after closing in March.

“(Mark Wilson and I) are just trying to stay with what the state said,” Bateson said. “We have always kept the place clean and sanitized all the time, it’s nothing new to us. For awhile we would ask if we could open, but they just didn’t say yes until suddenly last week they said we can open this weekend.”

Bateson explained the business is currently planned to open just on Friday and Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. for the timebeing until they are able to get back into the swing of things. Additionally, Bateson said they have a new food service for the business on the weekends — Aloha Tacos & More based out of Greenfield.

“They will be in here on Fridays and Saturdays,” Bateson said. “When we first open up we are just going to do Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a little while until things are full swing.”

Bateson — while working to re-wax the floor in the business Wednesday — explained there were a few things left to do, such as replace sensors in the basketball games and remove another game from the floor, but they were expecting to be open on Friday.

“We really appreciate the community’s support because without them we couldn’t do this and we are doing it for them,” Bateson said. “We both work full-time and this is our side-gig basically, but it was something the community needed we thought. We just miss seeing the community in here. We miss being in here and meeting people. We have people coming from Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton, but we have also had people coming through from Akron and saw us on Facebook or whatever, and they stopped in to specifically see us.”
