The Fayette County Task Force for the National Day of Prayer (NDOP) met on Jan. 14 to begin planning the 2020 event, which will be on May 7.

Task force leader Pat Brinkman opened the meeting by sharing a devotional by Ann Graham Lotz, after which the group prayed for local requests.

Brinkman shared information about this year’s nationwide event. The theme is “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth.”

The secretary’s report was given by Mary Estle. Tex Shadley gave the treasurer’s report.

The task force discussed many activities they hope to participate in, including the Health Fair, the noon and evening service on May 7 and the yearly t-shirt sale. They hope to have a Bible distribution for anyone needing a Bible, since 2020 has been designated as a “Year of the Bible.”

The following information is from the 2019 Impact Report issued by the national committee. Nearly 60,000 NDOP gatherings were held across the nation. Over 1.4 million viewers were able to watch the 2019 National Observance from the United States capital in Washington D.C.

The task force would like to invite any concerned individuals to join in planning events for Fayette County. Get in touch with a member of the task force or come to one of its meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Paddington Room at Court House Manor. The task force welcomes your ideas and your prayers. Don’t be left out! Let’s see what God can do right here in Fayette County if we all come together to pray.
