NDOP Task Force adds new members

Wake Up America is the theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer.

The first meeting for this year’s NDOP Task Force was held Tuesday, Feb. 16. Although the weather had been unpredictable, a good turn out attended the meeting, including three new people.

An important item of business was choosing this year’s T-shirt design and color. The T-shirt sale is the group’s only money making project. Shirts can be ordered from March 9 to March 29 from any Task Force member.

Prayer time included personal requests and prayers for our community.

Three of the newer members were asked to write their testimony as to why they became part of the local Task Force and what prayer means to them.

Molly Lotz wrote the following: “I am part of the NDOP Task Force because I believe in the power of prayer and the need for prayer in our lives. I believe people need a more prayer minded focus. The NDOP brings awareness and opportunity to pray as a community and reminds us of the importance of the community standing up together.”

The comments of other new members will be shared in the months to come.

County Coordinator, Nancy Boyer, informed the group that the date of this year’s event will be Thursday, May 5 at noon at the Court House Gazebo. Pastor Mick Whistler of the Grace United Methodist Church will give the noon devotional.

Jeffersonville will have a prayer service at their Veteran’s Memorial at 4 p.m. that day. At 7 p.m., people are asked to come to the evening prayer service at Grace United Methodist Church at the corner of North Street and Market Street.

If you share Molly’s concern, plan to join us for the next planning session, Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the Paddock Room at Court House Manor. For more information contact Nancy Boyer (740) 475-8230.
