Wind-powered sails dominated the day as boys and girls in Scouts BSA Pack 112 competed in the annual Rain Gutter Regatta recently. The annual event is held in November at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington C.H.
Cubs compete with balsa-wood boats they assemble and decorate themselves. The races take place in inflatable raceways filled with water. The youth propel their boats using their own breath by aiming straws at their boat sails to push them along the race course. Cubs were grouped by age for the competition, with winners as follows:
· Lion-Tiger-Bear Group: Remington Butcher first, Alexander Glover second, Daniel Souder third.
· Webelos Group: Jeffery Miller first, Cailin Johnson second, Ethan Lucas third.
· Overall Champion: Jeffery Miller first, Remington Butcher second, Cailin Johnson third.
