The Fayette County Democrats will hold their annual Presidents’ Day Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 14 at Our Place Restaurant in Washington C.H.

The keynote speaker will be Jennifer Brunner, the judge for Ohio’s 10th District Court of Appeals, and former Ohio Secretary of State from 2007-2011. She received national recognition for improving Ohio’s elections, including the nation’s most prestigious award for elected public servants – the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.

Other honored guests will be Judge Cynthia Rice and Judge John P. O’Donnell, who are running for seats on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Judge Rice served for a decade as both a county and federal prosecutor in Trumbull and Mahoning counties, prosecuting criminal cases, including murder, rape and illegal drugs. She moved on to become an assistant U.S. attorney for the Department of Justice in Youngstown, serving as a member of the General Crimes Division. She was elected to the 11th District Court of Appeals, serving as appellate judge from 2003 to the present. She has also served as a visiting judge on the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Judge O’Donnell was elected to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in 2002, and was re-elected in 2006 and 2012. He has presided over hundreds of jury trials in felony criminal cases and civil lawsuits. In 2008, he was selected by the chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court to preside over a docket devoted strictly to business litigation. He is the author of over 100 judicial opinions and has been a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs.

Ray Pryor, former state representative, will be in attendance to visit with friends and conduct an auction of patriotic and presidential memorabilia.

“Our Place Restaurant will again provide us with a delicious meal with your choice of baked steak or broasted chicken,” said Judy Craig, the county chair of the Fayette County Democrats.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with dinner served at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 each. For those interested, RSVP by calling Judy Craig at 740-426-6674.
